From the Office of the President of ATU 966 Transit Workers:

After a year and half without a contract, Thunder Bay Transit Workers have made their voices loud and clear with a 96% vote in favour of strike action.

Negotiations between the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 966 and the City of Thunder Bay have been ongoing since the beginning of 2021, with talks breaking off as of September 28th. ATU 966 have been without a contract since their last Collective Agreement expired in June 2020.

ATU 966 President Fred Caputo states that this is a very difficult and frustrating time for our members. They have been selflessly working through this entire pandemic to serve the citizens of Thunder Bay, and deserve a fair and equitable agreement.

The Union has applied for Conciliation, which the province has accepted, and is now waiting for the appointment of a Conciliator to continue talks.

In Solidarity,

Fred Caputo

President
